3 Simple Truths About SEO

pie 175x300 3 Simple Truths About SEOSEO is simple.

(You know, Search Engine Optimization – getting people to your site.)

It all comes down to being popular – for good reason.

Think of it using this high school party analogy.

Let’s say it was a typical Friday afternoon back in high school, and you heard about two parties going on…

a) One of the “cool kids” was having a party
b) One of the “average kids” was having a party

Which one would everyone go to?

The cool kid party, of course. vanwilder 300x200 3 Simple Truths About SEO

Why?

Because the cool kid party would be…

1) The party that everyone is talking about that day in anticipation

2) The party where all the good stuff would happen that people would
be talking about on Monday morning back at school

3) Duh, it’s called the “cool kid party”…who wouldn’t want to
go to something called “the cool kid party”

And here’s how that translates into Internet SEO.

1) Get one-way links back to your site (preferably with your keyword anchor text in the link)

You want to be the one everyone is talking about. And if you are, then you are going to get a lot of one-way links back to your site from other people.

And those one-way links are probably the most important factor for SEO and getting your site ranked up high in Google’s search rankings.

So be remarkable and put amazing content on your site that other people will link to.

2) Put a lot of quality content on your site

You want to have quality content on your site so that it’s worth the visit to your website. You must deliver “the good stuff”.

3) Put your keywords in the content and title tag

Going back to our party example, everyone wants to go to the “cool kid party” just because of the name!

Getting your keywords in the content and title tag of your site is critical. This will help your visitors realize they are in the right place. And google will reward you by giving you better rankings.

BONUS TIP)
I don’t think enough SEO experts recommend putting your keywords in your website name…I know it’s obvious, but I see too many folks leaving keywords out of their website name.

Here’s proof…in the last week of August we launched the website, www.KettlebellWorkouts.com, and in less than 3 months, it’s already in the top 4 position for the keyword search, “kettlebell workouts”.

And yes, I know it’s a small niche market, but thanks to our google rankings, this website is doubling my expectations for success. And that makes me a happy kid!

So follow those 4 simple tips and you’ll get good SEO rankings without wasting thousands of dollars on the latest “SEO product” put out by the internet marketing gurus.

There’s no need to spend so much money on something so simple,

Your Internet Lifestyle

I wrote most of this on the plane last week coming back from Tampa. As I boarded the plane after just 3 hours sleep, I expected to doze off pretty quickly, and for most of the 2.5 hour flight.

But…

I bought a copy of Fast Company, one of my favorite magazines, and the articles in that issue got me so pumped up and had my mind racing full of ideas that I wanted to share them with you.

Basically, over the last 2 months I’ve been at Mastermind meeting after Mastermind meeting and I truly believe I’ve seen the Future of Internet Marketing.

And it’s all about LIFESTYLE.

I’ve been talking about the need for experts to put a new twist on things for over a year now, and I think that the more you can use humor, personal stories, and even descriptions of daily activities, the greater you will succeed.

Vince Del Monte’s readers want more than just fitness info, they want to live his life.

Carrie Wilkerson’s Twitter followers want more than just business advice, they want to know how she lives her life.

And you’re readers want more than just your expertise, they want to know how you live your life.

Essentially, people will pay for access to your life if you are interesting and you can help boost their self-esteem (by offering them better fitness, more dates, increased income, etc.).

Like it or not, that’s where we are in this world, and the website owners who “get that” are going to build a killer business.

If your website can provide “VIP Access” with a “Proven Guide to Success” for what your niche market wants, you’ll be set.

I’d also mix in “user generated” content into the site so that your clients get maximum interaction with you and your VIP group, and they’ll get involved in something that they’ll never want to give up.

So whatever market you’re in, get out there and become the online authority site in the industry that is exciting and addictive to be involved with, and you’ll be the leader of your industry.

That’s essentially my Entourage Marketing strategy covered in the Online Second Paycheck System.

3 Reasons to Join a Mastermind Group

Another weekend, another mastermind meeting for me.

This time I’m off to Vegas, last week it was San Antonio.

And I wonder if I’ll see anyone famous this week? Last week it was Chuck “The Iceman” Lidell in the San Antonio aiport (at 5:30am!), the week before it was one of the guys from Metallica at my hotel pool in South Beach.

Surely in Vegas I’ll come across someone who is famous…at the very least I’ll be hanging out with Vince Del Monte. He’s “almost famous”.

Ha! No doubt it will be good times this week. A mastermind group always is.

Some of the biggest benefits to a Mastermind group (which you can set up even in your hometown with other ambitious business owners) are…

1) They hold you accountable.

If you say you are going to do something, you sure as heck better come to the next meeting with it done. Otherwise your fellow group members are going to be disappointed. If you need some inspiration to get things done and follow through, a good mastermind group is the solution to your problem.

2) A mastermind group breeds healthy competition.

If you have any ego at all – and every successful business owner that I know wants to be the best – then you’ll get fired up when you hear about the grand plans of other members.

Of course, this is healthy competition. First of all, you’ll get fired up to help your fellow members, but their success will also motivate you to step up your game.

If you are feeling complacent, there’s nothing more powerful for getting you out of a rut than hanging around guys and gals who are kicking butt while you drag your butt.

3) A mastermind group will help you take your biz to next level.

If you isolate yourself from other business owners, I guarantee that you won’t be thinking BIG enough. You’ll be holding yourself back by staying in your comfort zone. That’s fine if you are happy with “getting by”, but if you really want to excel, you need to be around the best of the best – and that’s what a mastermind group provides.

Again, you can set one up in your hometown or even online with like-minded business owners. It doesn’t have to be the same industry.

In fact, sometimes it’s better to have outside viewpoints from folks in completely different businesses. And the great thing is that you can get powerful new ideas by transferring what’s working in other industries over to your business.

So those are the 3 main reasons I’m going to Vegas this weekend.

When I’m there, I’ll be getting some help from my group on how to get more continuity in my business and on creating 2 new products for my Turbulence Training biz.

Plus, I’ll be sharing killer tips on…

1) How to pick the right price for your product
2) The best upsell strategies
3) How to do more promos in your business
4) The truth about SEO (and the most important factor for traffic) CB CA2ndPO eBook3 4 3 Reasons to Join a Mastermind Group
5) My 7 step launch sequence

(I shared a few of those last night on the Website Webinar for Online Second Paycheck clients.)

I’m stoked about Vegas this weekend, even though I don’t even care if I go to any restaurants or clubs. (In fact, I’m flying in Thursday night and flying out on Saturday night on the red-eye.)

It’s all about the Mastermind,

Niche Marketing

I could talk all day on Niche Marketing because it is that
important, and because so many folks struggle with it.

man confused Niche Marketing

Today my buddy Cabel asked me a great question.

“I wanted to ask you about when you started TT, who was it directed
at? Who was the audience you were trying to attract?”

Great question.

He’s asking how I picked my niche.

And as I mention in the OSP seminars, I was ALWAYS very SPECIFIC
about who I was talking to…

This is my target market guy:

- Mark, 36 years old, white guy, lives in Pennsylvania with 2 kids

- works in “the office” (perhaps even Dunder-Mifflin!)

- 1 hour trip to work, 1 hour home through traffic. Hates it.

- works out at 5am, 12pm , or 9pm in basement or at work.

- Drives beige American-made minivan.

- Has toys strewn across front yard.

- House is worth $150-$250K

- Plays baseball in backyard with kids after he BBQ’s each night

- Has black hair. About 6 feet tall. 20% body fat. Skinny-fat guy.

- Played sports in college then stopped working out.

- Got married. got busy.

- Every once in a while he tries to get started again but fails
because magazine (i.e. Flex) workouts take too long and his body is
trashed by 12 sets of chest.

- Fears back injury with barbell squats or getting crushed by bench

- Loves his kids and wife to death.

- Is a low key guy but don’t mess with his family.

- Loves America and the NFL.

You know that guy?

I do. And that’s why Turbulence Training sells.

Do YOU know YOUR market that well?

If not, take 30 minutes and write down everything about your target
market that you can.
