Success isn’t complex. Making more money online is simple.
Yes, it’s simple. But it’s not easy. You need to do some work and just as
importantly, you need someone to show you the way.
Nothing helped me more than investing in my education – from manuals to
coaching to full-on Masterminds, those are all guaranteed to give me a sweet
return on my investment.
And in addition to those “locks”, here are 5 other “secrets” to success
(”secrets” of course, that everyone should know, but doesn’t always act on).

1) TAKE ACTION.
Period.
There’s nothing more important than taking action. An article about Sam
Walton – founder of Walmart – claimed that he was less afraid of failure
than anyone else the author ever met.
And that’s why he was out there taking action everyday.
2) Fill a GAP in the marketplace.
From my Veggie Meal Plans, to my Kettlebell program, to my bodyweight
programs, all of these have been in response to feedback from clients and
prospects.
They showed me the way to a hole in the marketplace and I filled it.
At a recent Mastermind meeting, my friend Barry Dunlop recommmended an old
classic book, “The Secret to Money is Having Some” by Stuart Wilde.
Internet Marketing legend Perry Belcher, who was sitting beside me, said the
book could be summed up in 2 sentences.

i) Identify a problem people are having.
ii) Solve it.
That’s it. That’s all you need to do.
3) Create Converting Content & Copy
The content needs to be the problem, and your copy needs to convince your
prospects you have the solution.
That’s it.
It’s nothing more than that simple.
You might need more help with that last one, and that goes beyond what I can
fit into a single email – one that anyone would have the patience to read of
course.
In fact, something that important needs an entire book dedicated to it…

Amazon made a boatload of money off me this summer…but in return
I got to read some classics.
In Europe I got through “Clockwork Orange” and “The Grapes of
Wrath”, while back here in Toronto I read “The Catcher in the Rye”,
and I’m now working on a great business book, “The Richest Man in
Town” (RMIT).
In RMIT, the author interviews the richest person in 50 of America’s
largest cities, and they give a no-fluff account of the traits that
allowed them to get incredibly wealthy.
They include…
1) Owning their own business (”stop working for the man as soon as
you can”, they all said)
2) Working a lot (at least 60 hours per week) and sleeping little
3) Focusing on VALUE creation, not making money
4) Focusing on their unique talents and abilities and delegating
everything else
5) Partnering only with those who bring something critical to the
table
6) Getting addicted to ambition

7) Persistence. Never giving up. In fact, most of them believe that
persistence is the ONLY reason they have gotten farther ahead in
life than other people.
Not talent.
Not luck.
But simple persistence.
And I believe it.
Because when I talk to the guys making the most money online, like
Vince DelMonte, Bedros Keuilian, Chris McCombs, and Mike Geary, they
all have stories of persistence.
Of working hard for a long time without reward before finally making
things click.
These aren’t overnight success stories. They are years in the making.
And one of the areas where more website owners need persistence is
in the art of writing ad copy.
Too many folks think they can throw something up online after a few
hours work and that it will bring them in the big bucks.
That’s wishful thinking.
You need to study it and be persistent.
So I’ve got something for ya.
I recommend that you spend a couple of hours reviewing this free
ad copy teleseminar that I did last year.
Listen to the teleseminar here!
You get the handouts and everything on that page.
You must learn to write copy that separates your program from the
hundreds of other options a person can find online, in bookstores,
and through late night infomercials.
And you can’t do that in a couple of hours.
So start your learning process by going back through that seminar.
Other sites with great ad copy to review include:
1) Joel Marion’s www.cheatyourwaythin.com
and
2) Vince DelMonte’s www.vincedelmontefitness.com
Read their stories.
Then look back at your life and write your copy about the turning
point in your life that will allow you to connect with your readers.
Without that connection, your website is going to struggle.
I wish it weren’t the case, but that is the harsh reality.
Be persistent,
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS

PS – For those of you with persistence, I’ll see you at the Fitness
Info Summit.
One lucky person will get a hotseat and have their entire fitness
info product created for them at the seminar. Should be interesting.

Just finishing up my last day here in Brussels. About to head out
for a famous Belgian Waffle and then back to Paris.

One more day there and then home to Toronto on Wednesday. Looking
forward to it.
But while I was sitting on the train from Amsterdam to Brussels
yesterday, I started thinking about my business plan for when I get
back to Canada…
I made a list of over 21 big things to do, but here are 3 that you
can get started with right now…because they are free and easy to
work on.
#1 – Do more video.
Create your own TV show. As Andrew Lock, a big time Internet
Marketer said to me in May at a Mastermind meeting, doing an online
TV show was the best thing he has ever done for his business.
That means going beyond Youtube (even though that is working better
and better for me everyday).
You become an even more credible expert if you start building your
own online TV show, when compared to just having a Youtube channel.
More to come on this topic…video is going to be hotter than any
other format online in the next year. So make sure you are getting
comfortable in front of the camera.
#2 – The list matters more than the copy!

Most folks get really hung up on writing ad copy for their website,
but it shouldn’t be so stressful.
Instead, you should be spending more time making sure you are getting
in front of the right audience.
The right audience plus mediocre copy will equal good sales…
BUT
The wrong audience with amazing copy will equal poor sales.
So make sure you are networking and building partnerships and getting
in front of the right people.
And remember – you don’t have to start with a massive launch…just
get the ball rolling with a few good partners and take those results
to the “big guys” to prove that you have a winner.
#3 – Give more free content.
I’ll be giving away more info, products, videos, workouts, etc.,
when I get back, and making sure it is some of my best content.
The more you give away, the greater the level of trust you build up
with your readers.

So whether its more free interviews I’ll be giving away to my
bootcamp blog readers or more video workouts for all TT users, I’m
just going to keep giving away content.
After all, since we’re experts, we all have a ton of content that we
can give away and still have lots left to make into products.
So keep giving. It’s a win-win situation.
Alright off for Waffle time,

Finished some awesome OSP coaching calls with my Mastermind members last week, and so many of them are having record-setting years online.
I’m a proud coach!
(And I’m going to be doing some coaching in Vegas and Atlanta this fall if you are interested…more details below.)
On the calls, we talked about the following 5 hot topics that will help you make more money online.
And if you would have gone all “Richard Nixon” on us and tapped our phones, you would have discovered this…
1) Don’t be cheap – get professional artwork done

One of the best tips I got from my mentor was to get my ebook covers
done by Vaughn.
I’ve spent thousands of dollars on book cover graphics, but I bet
my return on investment has been 10 to 1. In fact, I always make a
“production” out of my covers…using them as a big piece of my
marketing.
So when coaching my OSP mastermind members, I insist they use the
very best on their sites too.
2) Use Payment Plans – even at $77
I don’t have to tell you about the recession – no doubt you hear of
it everyday…it’s a big objection to buying.
So make it as easy as possible…and offer payment plans, even if
the price is only $77. I use payment plans for my bootcamp workout
products and folks take advantage of the payment plans at least 33%
of the time.
Don’t throw away money when these are so easy to set up!
3) Use a blog contest as often as possible
As you’ll discover in this month’s OSP Inner Circle newsletter, a
blog contest is an essential component of a Product Launch.
But you can also use them regularly to learn more about your clients
and the big obstacles in their way of success.
And the more you know about your clients, the better you will be
able to solve their problems and provide extreme value.
Blog contests are right up there with Transformation Contests for
the top thing I’ve started doing in my business in the last 2 years.
4) Just get it out there before you try to be Frank Kern!
Every week I hear from folks who want to do a big time production
Product Launch but they only have 400 people on their list.
Listen, you have to relax, take a deep breath, and just get your
product out to the world so that you at least know they want what
you have to offer.
Don’t spend all your time on an elaborate launch until you have a
proven product. Keep hustlin’ and working on the basics.
5) Give away something HUGE!

When you are offering a free gift to build your list, I want you to
make it the coolest thing you could possibly give away.
I almost screwed this up during my Easy Veggie Meal Plans Launch,
but fortunately my good buddy Vince DelMonte set me straight and
showed me an even better free gift to give prospects.
Thanks to him we sold over 885 copies of the Meal Plans to a tiny,
targeted niche in just 4 days.
6) BONUS TIP – Don’t be a hound dog.

No one likes to do business with a person who always seems “down on
their luck” and feeling sorry for themselves.
You’ll never build an Entourage like that!
You need to be…
- unique
- confident
- and bringing something of value to the table every time
Whew. That’s it. Those calls are always awesome and I learned 10
other things I just didn’t have time to share…
I love coaching folks on building their online businesses, and so
I’m adding a couple of coaching days for you this Fall.
In October, I’ll be in Vegas to do some online biz coaching on the
weekend of October 16-17th.
And in November, I’ll be in Atlanta on the weekend of Nov 4-8th for
an info marketing seminar…
So I’m going to add on 2 days to BOTH trips and I have room for:
a) One day of private coaching
You’ll spend a full 8 hours with me in my hotel suite where we’ll
work exclusively on building your Online Business from A to Z. This
is perfect for the ambitious expert who wants to accelerate their
success and skip over the beginner trials and tribulations.
The private coaching day investment is $10K.
b) One day of small group hotseats – limit 7 experts.
Each expert will have a 45 minute hotseat where the group will
Mastermind and Brainstorm solutions to your business problems and
help you grow your business faster than you ever would on your own.
Plus, the networking aspect of the intimate small group meeting
often even exceeds the hotseat experience! And finally, we’ll all
go out for an affluent experience after the meeting for more
networking.
The investment for the small group hotseat day is $1495.
Reply by email for an application,
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS
PS – Skeptical that a simple hotseat could really help your online
business?
“I had a fantastic meeting last week. In fact I’ve been telling
everyone that I learned more in the hotseat than have in the past
2 years on my own. I really enjoyed the group and have also
experienced first-hand the power of “The Mastermind”. I think
I’ve also realized that being part of a Master Mind group is a MUST
if you’re either starting a business or if you’d like to take it to
the next level. Look forward to the next meeting!
Deb Froehlich MS CSCS
“”Craig, you rescued me again. I have $10,000 worth of hardcopy
inventory sitting here and couldn’t figure out how to create
incentive for my customers to purchase them since they already own
the same content digitally – that was, until you gave me the answer
during one of your OSP hotseats. Now I guarantee I’ll sell all 500
DVD’s at $200 a pop for $100,000 profit in the next few months.
Thanks again.”

I could talk all day on Niche Marketing because it is that
important, and because so many folks struggle with it.

Today my buddy Cabel asked me a great question.
“I wanted to ask you about when you started TT, who was it directed
at? Who was the audience you were trying to attract?”
Great question.
He’s asking how I picked my niche.
And as I mention in the OSP seminars, I was ALWAYS very SPECIFIC
about who I was talking to…
This is my target market guy:
- Mark, 36 years old, white guy, lives in Pennsylvania with 2 kids
- works in “the office” (perhaps even Dunder-Mifflin!)
- 1 hour trip to work, 1 hour home through traffic. Hates it.
- works out at 5am, 12pm , or 9pm in basement or at work.
- Drives beige American-made minivan.
- Has toys strewn across front yard.
- House is worth $150-$250K
- Plays baseball in backyard with kids after he BBQ’s each night
- Has black hair. About 6 feet tall. 20% body fat. Skinny-fat guy.
- Played sports in college then stopped working out.
- Got married. got busy.
- Every once in a while he tries to get started again but fails
because magazine (i.e. Flex) workouts take too long and his body is
trashed by 12 sets of chest.
- Fears back injury with barbell squats or getting crushed by bench
- Loves his kids and wife to death.
- Is a low key guy but don’t mess with his family.
- Loves America and the NFL.
You know that guy?
I do. And that’s why Turbulence Training sells.
Do YOU know YOUR market that well?
If not, take 30 minutes and write down everything about your target
market that you can.

Use my “description” of Mark to guide you.
Then build your Entourage Marketing around that,

Last week I was down in Texas, one of my favorite states, at a
Mastermind group…
…now as it always happens, the group got “hung up” trying to
brainstorm a good name for someone’s product.
But to be honest, it was a complete waste of TIME.
Why?
Because us “masterminders” were NOT the target audience.
I mean really, what did a group of 30 year old guys, a few Irish
folks, and a random group of average Americans really know about
the “middle aged former executive woman who wants to start her own
business” market?
Not much, that’s what.
But there we sat, verbally running around like a bunch of chickens
with our heads cut off, tossing out more bad ideas than a bunch of
drunken frat boys at a strip club.
Here’s what should have happened.
The person in our group looking for advice should have moved on to
another topic, and then went straight to her MARKET for advice.
And that’s what you should do too, for almost any question you have,
from what product to create next to what to name your next website.
The easiest way to do that is with a BLOG CONTEST.

Here are two blog contests I ran this week that gave some intense
feedback from readers/prospects.
#1) The first contest is “just a random contest” I held on my blog
to see why people were not taking action.
You’ll learn a lot just by seeing how I set it up here:
Click here to see the “Breaking Point” blog
#2) This 2nd example is part of the product launch sequence that
previously helped OSP member Joel Marion sell over $300K of nutrition
e-books in just 4 days.
You’ll see that this contest is part of my Product Launch Formula
for the Easy Veggie Meal Plans product.
…by asking the readers why they need the Meal Plans product, we
are fostering “committment and consistency” in their behavior while
at the same time finding out their deepest reasons for wanting the
product.
Go here to see how I got over 241 entries into the contest:
Click here to see the Meal Plan Contest
So just remember, if you want to know what your customers want,
ask your customers – not a bunch of people with just theories.

Just a quick, but powerful affiliate marketing tip for you.
I’ve found that when you are promoting products through blogs and
emails, that NOTHING works better than sharing your personal
experience with the product.
For example, when I promote Jay Ferruggia’s muscle building
workouts, I do it by talking about my results or experiences with
one of his programs.
It gives SOCIAL PROOF to your promo, and shows that you aren’t just
doing this to take someone’s money.
You’re doing it because you BELIEVE in the product.
And that’s the best approach you can take if you are recommending my
new EasyVeggieMealPlans.com product to your list.
Here’s what I suggest you do…

1) Click HERE to download the Vegetarian Meal Plans!!
2) Try out at least one of the recipes, if not an entire day of
eating according to that plan.
3) Blog about it or write an article about it. You can post this
article on your site, send it out by email, or even submit it to
ezinearticles.com or other directories.
4) Use your Twitter and Facebook accounts to send people to your
article.
5) Keep posting and updating your Twitter and Facebook accounts with
more meals that you try from our plan.
That’s the best way to promote a product.
It gives social proof and shows you truly stand behind what you are
recommending.
Let me know if you need any help with that, and don’t forget, your
Clickbank affiliate link for the EasyVeggieMealPlans.com site is:
=> http://YOURID.ttveggie.hop.clickbank.net/
(Just make sure to replace YOURID with your clickbank name.)
And one last thing…the pre-launch ends Friday, so make sure your
readers get over to that site today for the meal plans!
Helping you make more money online,
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS
Author, Turbulence Training
Author, The Lazy Man’s Guide to Vegetarian Eating
PS – If you want to promote Turbulence Training….
…then talk about how you tried the sample TT workout or how you
followed one of my youtube videos and post your workout experience.
You might even film yourself doing a TT workout or use the program
for 4-12 weeks and take before and after photos.
That kind of social proof will help you do a killer promo!

Every morning I get up and go through this routine…

a) dog walk (followed by workout on T, Th, S, Sunday)
b) 30 minutes of work on main project
c) 15 minutes writing TT article for SEO
d) and then 15 minutes reviewing 10 influential documents that help
to guide my day
And one of those is Yanik Silver’s 34 Rules for Maverick Entrepreneurs.
Today it was time to read Rule #22…and it is perfect for one of
the 2 lessons I want to teach you…
Rule #22 for Maverick Entrepreneurs states…
“Always have something else to sell (upsell, cross-sell, follow up
offer, etc.) whenever a transaction takes place. The hottest buyer
in the world is one who just gave you money.”
I wanted to review this because earlier this week I was helping out
my friends with a product launch.
While I was looking through their copy, emails, and sales pages, I
asked them, “What are you selling on your download page?”
Their answer…”Nothing yet”.
Big mistake. That’s a HOLE in their BUCKET.
You have to plug all those holes. You must have a CALL to ACTION on
every page of your website. Nothing should be letting your clients
“leak out”.
So here’s what we did…
We added my Turbulence Training for Abs program and offered their
new clients a one-time discount.
The result?
So far, 1 out of every 8 clients is taking this additional product.
And this is despite the fact that we’re using a poorly designed
shopping cart to make the offer (but that’s another story for the
OSP Inner Circle newsletter).
One out of eight clients is now giving them an extra $21.
I don’t know about you, but I’d like an extra twenty bucks in my
pocket 12.5% of the time!
Basically, that was money that was being flushed down the toilet
before we plugged that hole.
So big lesson here…go back to your website and make sure every
page is plugged up with a call to action or a special offer, with
the most important page being your download page for your product
and for your free list-building offer.
Start there first.
There’s one more lesson to be learned from this case study…and
I’ll be back later this week to tell you about it.
In the meantime, do NOT stop taking ACTION – the key to success.
Stay strong,
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS
PS – I have 3 copies left of the interview I did with Bedros…

Craig’s OSP newsletters make me look at marketing and branding in
a whole new light. I’ve never been much of a marketing guy, but
Craig’s approach made total sense to me. It was easy to implement
and had a profound effect on how I market myself and my business.

Ok, time to finish off the top 7 tips from the Mastermind meeting…
(But don’t tell anyone I told you about these.)
Tip #4 – Deadline
At the Mastermind meeting a lot of folks were struggling with
getting things done, so I reminded them they MUST set deadlines.
Legendary copywriter John Carlton once called the deadline the
“world’s greatest invention”. That might be stretch, but it works!
Connect the deadline with a reward. For example, if you get your
e-book done by Friday at 5pm then you get to take your family to
an amusement park on Saturday.
If you don’t get it done, then you do NOT get to go.
Once you connect tasks and deadlines to “real world rewards”, I bet
you’ll start getting more stuff done.
Tip #5 – Break down your goals
When setting money goals, most folks just throw out random numbers.
For example, lots of people want to make a million bucks.
But less than 3% of them ever stop to THINK and break down that big
number into daily goals.
After all, if you want to make a million dollars, that means you
need to AVERAGE over $2739 per day.
So you need to break down how you’re going to make $2700 per day. Or
if you want to make 100K, you need to average $274/day ($1917/week).
Now you have things at a more manageable level and you can figure
out where you need to TAKE ACTION to achieve $274 per day.
Tip #6 – YOU Be the Judge
Trainers love to repeat things they hear experts say.
You know the ones that say, “Did you hear how coach Chuck Poliking
said you can increase your close grip bench press by taking 2.1g of
XYZ and using a 47.89 percent incline?”
Well, now trainers are doing the same thing with Internet Marketing.
They hear one expert say that they should give away a CD and put
people on a recurring billing program and now every trainer is
believing that is the ONLY way to do things.
Well it’s not.
Do not blindly accept what authority figures say…there are so many
Internet Marketers out there and all have found what works for them.
You need to find what works for YOU. So always be testing. But don’t
always be trusting.
Tip #7 – Be the Market Leader
I can’t stress how important this is.
You need a big idea. A HOOK. A reason why anyone should care about
your stuff. You have to be different.
Not revolutionary, just different. Just a wee bit different.
You can do that, right?
So that’s it. Overall it was one of the best Mastermind meetings
I’ve ever attended (aside from my own OSP Masterminds, of course!).

are pretty damn powerful and I have already put these tactics to

So I just spent $12K to join a Mastermind group just to get them to
help me with a domain name…but more on that in a minute.
First, I want to share with you the top 7 tips I contributed to the
Mastermind Group I attended the other week.

This group was put together by Bedros Keuilian, a big time fitness
business coach and soon to be WORLD FAMOUS internet marketer and
Sundance Film Festival Movie Star. (More on that in the July OSP CD
of the Month).
And I think the key to a good Mastermind is giving, so here are some
of the ideas I shared over the weekend…
Tip #1 – The Audience is More Important than the Copy
If you struggle with writing copy, I have some good news for you.
Just as you can’t out-train a bad diet, you can’t “out-sell” a bad
audience. If you’re in front of the wrong people, even the best
copy in the world won’t work.
But if you focus on getting your message in front of a “starving
crowd” (people who are begging to get your info), even beginner copy
will still make a lot of sales.
So put just as much effort into attracting the right people to your
offer as you do worrying about writing perfect copy.
Tip #2 – You Still Need to Write the Best Copy You Can…
…and it should make the reader want to run their head through a
brick wall just to get your product.
Are you getting your prospects excited about the solution you have
for their problem? If yes, you’ll make sales. If not, you won’t.
In order to write copy that good, you need to be focused on giving
them a SOLUTION to their biggest PROBLEM.
Make them know you understand what they are going through, and then
give them tons of social proof that your solution will deliver all
the benefits they desire.
Get my Entourage Copy System HERE!
Tip #3 – Give Away More FREE Stuff Than You Think You Should…

…and always make it your best stuff. Trust me, from my personal
results I’ve found that the more stuff I give away for free, the
better my sales.
I give away free instruction in youtube videos, free workouts on my
blog, and free advice in a weekly podcast.
The biggest impact has been giving away the workouts on the blog.
That’s right, giving away what I sell has actually given me the
biggest boost in my sales.
So get GIVING!
OK, that’s enough for today. I’ll be back later this week with Part
II of the Top 7 Tips from the Mastermind,
Oh yeah, and about the $12K for a website name?
Well, when I came to the meeting my most pressing issue was figuring
out a name for my new Veggie Meal Plans product.
And as you know, the right name can be worth big bucks, so don’t
overlook this part of your business.
Anyways, after discussing it with the group, we didn’t come up with
anything, but 30 seconds after I sat down, I had it!
I had the name. So simple. It will work perfectly.
Money well spent!
Go Mastermind with people smarter than you,

PPS – Are you in a Mastermind group?
If not, start one tomorrow!
You can do it in person or online or even on the phone.
Just get together with other experts and help each other out.
Oh yeah, and in the Mastermind it’s just like lesson #3 above…the
more you give, the more you’ll get.
